The honey hole at lake phantom was quiet and relaxing. There is a fishing dock on the property and a boat ramp not too far. We stayed from a Thursday-Monday and didn't want to leave! The people working there are friendly. We can't wait to go back!
The place was awful. The greenery in the photo is sticker weeds. We could not hook-up our RV without getting a sticker stuck somewhere on us. Too many sticker weeds for flip-flops. The pavilion was all trashed out. No shade available at the RV sites. Two houses gutted out nearby as scenery. Would not
I arrived after dark for primitive tent camping and the owner was very helpful. The tenting area is a bit hard to find in the dark (you might need to ask), but it was exactly what I was looking for, a quiet spot to set up for the night on late notice, on the edge of a very pretty lake.
This place is awesome, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I went to the old ran down one that I have been going to on fm 600 off and on and they acted like I had just ruined their day by asking for bait so I said never mind and left. I had seen a place right around the corner and I figured I would see what they had, which is the honey hole, so I swung in there for bait. These people had a great selection to choose from such as minnows, all sizes of perch and gold fish, and shad. I got 3 dozen minnows which was actually more like 4 and a half or 5 and saw that they had put out a new fishing dock and figured I would give it a try. I fished into the evening, ran out of bait, called them at 1am a few short of my limit and he came out and gave me a few minnows and when I tried to pay he just said to come back and see them and not to worry about it and he was glad to have earned my business. The new dock is great as well with plenty of room and they are even making it bigger the young lady that owns it said, and they are because that day there were welders making the frames. The whole place is a million times better than in the past, the rv spots are staying so full that they are expanding after a month of owning it, and it was just a great experience over there all the way around. I will be back myself and my 4 kids and I would like to thank them and say that I appreciate the virtual around the clock service that I got so THANK YOU and it is about time someone made something nice around here and cares about us fishermen.
I been going to the honey hole for 3 years. It is awesome! I met a lot of my crappie friends there and it has been a great experience. Nothing real special, until Wednesday night. I was able to communicate with them that I will be fishing late around midnight and needed bait and they kept the bait shop open for me! I was impressed! I live on the south side, that is about a 30 min drive. I didn't want to drive to the north side get a bunch of minnows and have to store them in my refrigerator. It would of been a waste of time. I'm so glad they left the door open for me. The honey hole is a great place with great people loving the outdoors, the honey hole has my loyalty.
recommend to anyone.
