Went there today and while I was waiting to be seen I observed employees berate and completely disrespectful to the Veterans waiting in their lobby. So why did I sit there thinking they were going to treat me any different? The employees spent more time telling people what they were not going to do for them than helping them. This was before they had even looked at their medical records...So I sat there and of course someone came up to me after they closed and told me all the doctors had left. Then with out skipping a beat told me what they were not going to do for me. Did not talk to me about what was wrong, did not look at my extensive medical records. Finally I just walked out and told them they should be ashamed how they treat vets. Ended up going to the emergency room for treatment I should have gotten from the VA.
Your typical vet clinic, poor service, smart ass nurses and doctors including the one that yelled at me "Are you deaf?" To which I replied, "Yes, but that's not why I'm here." Our vets deserve better.
I had kicked a piece of wood about 1:00am and it felt like I just stubbed my toe. I had some x-rays taken at my work (a Walk In Clinic) and it looks like there is a fracture and a possible dislocation. I called the VA to see if my doc had an appointment available and was told it would take a month to get in. I was then asked some questions and was told that I qualify to go to the ER but the VA might not pay for it. I do not want to waste my money or the VA's money so I explained I would not go to just get more x-rays done. I just wanted my doc at the VA to review the x-ray disk that I had received to figure out what to do next. Going into the VA, I spoke with the triage nurse and explained the situation. She then went to speak with the doc and came back and said to buddy tape it and take motrin. I asked how she wants me to buddy tape it because if anyone would have asked me to remove my shoe they would have noticed my toe leaning into the other already. I was then told that the doc could not verify a break or dislocation without a radiologist reading the report. Then was asked if I could get the report to them. This means I pay out of my pocket for him to do his job instead of just ordering this himself. I am furious over a broke pinkie toe. What else do I have to do to get the VA to do their job? If this is happening with me, what are the other vets dealing with? This VA is embarrassing. What is the point of VA healthcare if I have to do everything myself at my expense?!?!
If I had the option of going to Big Srings hospital (even though it is a 1 1/2 hour drive) it woukd be well worth the trip. I am tired of having to fight with the clinic and follow through with every detail to get things done. The option of the First Choice program isn't much better as they take far to long to get things done as well. The lack of satisfaction withe this system has led me to out my house uo for sale after a little over a year and I will be moving to Fort Worth area.
