How did my son escape? That's a great question that has not been answered. No one can explain why my son was not supervised.

I do not recommend this facility to anyone. I hope that others will review this information and find another facility.

My son left at 7:30pm on March. It was getting cold, he wasn't dressed for the night. How I found out that my son escaped from the facility was the Abilene police.

The staff made sure he was able to talk to family on the designated phone times.

24 hours later, I still call the facility to get information. They transfer my calls to someone's voice mail. No one

I am not one to write reviews. But being a parent going through all we have gone through I have found myself reading reviews from other families. They do help in the decision making process. I personally will never go through Abilene again. There are other facilities that I would go to before ever thinking about bringing my son back there.

My 7 year old son (Autism/ADHD/ODD) was at this facility for 2 weeks. During that stay one of his medications was changed and no real changes to his behaviors at all. They tried sending him home after only 1 week, but at the last minute decided he needed to stay because insurance agreed to pay for one more day. That extra day allowed for my son to show some behaviors that eventually led to finishing out the week in that facility. Wasn't even a full 3 weeks of being home before we needed to find another facility.

That being said, there are some positives, I guess?

My son was physically assaulted here and was threatened sexually and this facility is refusing to release him... and they didn't even inform me that he was in there and I have primary custody his father was suppose to consult with me before admiring him and they didn't even ask for court papers they just had him sign a paper saying he was custodial parent which he is not I got the police coming up here now and I've notified the media

It was very difficult to get in touch with anyone, and when you could, they would say something like, "well the doctor was thinking of trying a new med, but I don't know what it is" or "well, there is a medication written on a piece of paper but I don't know which kiddo it's for." No real communication between providers and family.

When I called the stafff, I was told "it was chaotic here and no one could call." However, that was at 9:30pm.

I left messages to speak with a Dr, DON, administrator, or whoever else was in charge. No one called me back.

The social worker was trying very hard to find resources in our area, and would try and give information as she received it. But even she was surprised to hear they were discharging my son because he honestly was not any better. She was very helpful.

return my call.

My son had been to one facility previous to Abilene and we hoped for improvement, we only saw regression with Abilene. Only disappointment came from this facility. Within the month of his discharge he was already admitted into another facility who seems to be taking things more seriously.

The facility he is at now seems promising already, although only having been there 5 days, still forward movement as opposed to complete regression shown with Abilene in a 2 week time frame. Best of luck to those seeking help for their loved one. Stay strong.

I had requested that my son gets a pysch evaluation before leaving this hospital, no one said that it was going to happen.

While at this facility, my 15yr unstable son managed to escape from here. Yes, he ran away!!! While my son was on the run, the staff did not call me to inform me what happened.

My 15yr old son was ED to this facility by SO. My son was only diagnosed with ADHD. However, this is his 3rd hospital stay in less than a month.

When he was admitted to the hospital in Austin, the doctor was surprised at the strength of the newest med given by Abilene because it was way too high of a dosage for my son's weight group.
