Our first experience here wasn't perfect but I'm all for second chances, especially when it comes to breakfast and I'm so glad I did! This has become one of the main places my family and I go because we all leave full and satisfied. My kids love the little bear breakfast and the German apple pancake and cinnamon roll waffle can't be beat! The only negative is the parking.
The Flipping Egg has the BEST EVER sweet creme pancakes. I never had sweet cream pancakes in my life until we discovered this place (We haven't lived in Abilene TX very long). My husband chooses something different each time we go, but I get these pancakes served with extra extra sweet cream butter and LOTS of maple syrup
Last few visits have been disappointing. Today for 2 French toast and kiddie pancakes it was a long wait. We had a side of eggs it all came out cold. We didn’t see much of our waitress. Watched as they made 2 seniors one on a walker stand while they couldn’t figure whose section had someone working lots of open tables.. common sense says sit they where they are comfortable and TELL the server they will serve even if section is closed or that server goes home... very disappointed
Food is good. Watch for up charges. Waitress asked if I'd like the Texas hash browns. $2 for a spot of cheese and 2 slices of jalapeno. No mention it was extra. So I got 2 eggs Benedict and hash browns and a coffee for $16.22 with a 20% tip it would be almost $20 for breakfast... You be the judge.
Absolutely love this place. We'll never go to a chain business unless it is absolutely the only place available.
We had a not-so-great experience yesterday, but have to really give the owner/manager credit for reaching out to us to fix things. They took a lot of time to hear us out and let us know the steps they took to prevent problems in the future. We'll definitely be back for a second chance in the future. Kudos for good management (and good cinnamon rolls).
