This place is great for a feel-good night out with friends and family! I recently brought a group of 25. They sat us at two adjacent tables started whipping the food out quickly.
We usually don't have any problems at Belles but when we brought a big group, they put us on the list stating that it would be 5-10 minutes. We waited 35 minutes and when I went to speak to the waitress, they had forgotten us! She couldn't find us on the list and when I pointed to my unmarked name at the top of the list (about 15 names were marked out below us), she mumbled something about it taking another 20-30 minutes! Although the food is good, it is not worth the waiting experience we had. If she had told us it would have taken that long in the beginning, we would have gone somewhere else and saved time.
In the style of Roanoke, Texas' famous chicken dinner restaurant, Babes, Abilene's Belle's Chicken Dinner House is a worthy homage.
Delicious food! It is very similar to Babe's. I love fried chicken but I actually like the roasted chicken even more than the fried there, which says a lot! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the restroom needs a lot of improvement. There aren't even toilet paper or paper towel holders/dispensers. It just sits on the ground or on top of the toilet. Gross. The trash can was completely overfilled and there were paper towels all over the floor.
Great southern style home cooking. Food is fantastic and slightly better than the Babe's Chicken House restaurants in the Dallas that they are emulating. However the air conditioning was not working well on my visit. I work outside in this heat all day, I want to be cool and relax while eating and sipping iced tea. I'll come back in the fall when the place cools off though.
Belle's Chicken Dinner House was so good! The food was served family style. Delicious green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, and homemade yeast rolls were served with crispy, tasty fried chicken. The prices were very reasonable. The staff was friendly and fun, the ambiance was relaxing and we laughed a lot. The owners even came and sat with us for a bit. I highly recommend Belle's. We're going back the next time we go through Abilene! Five Stars*****

The music is ranges from Texas County to coroners, too novelty songs - everyone in our group (teens to septuagenarians), said how fun the muzak was!
All of the sides may blend together scrumptiously and the sorghum elevates the fresh rolls to a whole new level!
