Visited at noon on a Tuesday - ordered the house salad with onion vinaigrette and spinach mozzarella quiche. Enjoyed the unsweetened ginger pear tea. Finished it off with dreamsicle macaroon.
Only baker in Abilene that is an actual bakery and will bake what you ask of them. Spoke to Jennifer on the phone asking about gluten free bread and she was incredibly professional and determined to find a solution for me. Thanks Jennifer! She gave me the direct cell phone number for the baker. I spoke to Jon on the phone and he was extremely helpful with finding the exact ingredients I am looking for. I specifically asked him if could make a gluten free bread with a flour that does not have xanthan gum. He is going to do the research, and create a recipe to meet my needs since 99% of gluten free flour has xanthan gum included in the ingredients. This is a place that obviously cares about their customers. All other bakery's I called in Abilene were not willing to even consider baking gluten free bread or didn't bake bread at all. I'm not sure why they call themselves a bakery then. Thank you Milk and Honey, you stand out among others during a time where the customer doesn't feel important to the businesses that we spend our hard earned money on. You have my business, and I will be recommending you anytime anyone at Dyess AFB is looking for a baker.
For gluten free people looking for an edible bread as well: I will update this review once I receive the bread and let you know how good it is. With the way it's going so far, I'm sure it is going to be delicious.
Lovely old house converted to a bistro/bakery
The establishment was clean and food wonderful. If any changes needed to be made - it would be Staff Development. Wait staff were sweet and polite but reached across the table to serve food and drinks. A small thing I know; however, it did come to my attention. I encourage you to take the gal pals and spend time visiting and dining.
I knew going in that macarons were pricey, but jeez, $24.00 for a dozen little cookies about the size of a quarter? Presentation was not good. Clear plastic flip top container like you'd get at any burger place...just not styrofoam. Staff nice, cute place but hardly a value.
UPDATE: Don't be upset with your staff...I did get a little black box for the two macarons I bought to try myself. :) The dozen were a gift for mother's day and although I had to purchase a different container to put them in, she loved them and was pleased with the gift.
The atmosphere is great, and the desserts are all excellent. The staff are very friendly. Prices are not outrageous, but in line with what you might expect from an intimate setting with excellent food.
